Background and Need

The prolonged insurgency in Borno and Yobe States has devastated communities, leaving many young people vulnerable and without access to education, vocational training, and essential support services. The insurgency has resulted in the loss of infrastructure, displacement, and limited economic opportunities, particularly for the youth. This campaign seeks to address the critical needs of these young people, providing them with the resources and support they need to build a better future.

Objectives

  1. Education and Skill Development: Provide educational resources and vocational training to empower youth with skills that can lead to sustainable livelihoods.
  2. Psychosocial Support: Offer counseling and mental health support to help youth recover from trauma and build resilience.
  3. Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community and belonging through youth-led initiatives and activities.
  4. Advocacy and Awareness: Raise awareness about the challenges faced by youth in conflict-affected areas and advocate for their rights and needs.

Target Population:

 Youth aged 15-24 in Borno and Yobe States, with a focus on internally displaced persons (IDPs), out-of-school youth, and those affected by the insurgency.

Location:

Key communities in Borno and Yobe States, with a focus on areas most affected by the insurgency.

Key Activities

  1. Educational Programs:
    • Establish mobile learning centers and provide educational materials.
    • Offer scholarships and financial aid to support access to education.
  2. Vocational Training:
    • Set up vocational training centers offering courses in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, agriculture, and ICT.
    • Provide startup kits and mentorship for graduates of the training programs.
  3. Psychosocial Support:
    • Implement counseling sessions and mental health workshops.
    • Train community members to provide peer support and counseling.
  4. Community Engagement Activities:
    • Organize youth forums and leadership training.
    • Support youth-led community projects that promote peacebuilding and social cohesion.
  5. Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns:
  • Launch social media campaigns and community outreach programs to highlight the issues facing youth in conflict zones.
    • Partner with local media to share stories of resilience and hope.

  • Empowerment: Equip over 1,000 youth with education and vocational skills, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute to their communities.
